# there are constant distractions and interruptions
# cultivating focused attention is very valuable
# Aim : to do more work in less amount of time.
$ professional activities performed in a state of distraction free
concentration that push our cognitive capabilities to their limit.
$ till now, i have only performed shallow work which is defined as:
(( noncognitively demanding, logistical style task, often perfo
ormed while distracted )) -> these efforts are do not create
much value and are easy to replicate.
$ Deep work makes people more happier, more focused, and productive
# ------------------------------------------------
++++++++++ 4 rules of DEEP WORK ++++++++++++++++++
--------------------------------------------------
1. Work deeply: we are not born with deep work style, but we can train
ourselves with continous practice and planning.
$ a good idea is to distribute: having a rhythimic workflow of deep
and shallow work on a daily basis.
-----------------------------------------------------
Quality of Work = (time spent) * (intensity of focus)
-----------------------------------------------------
2. Embrace boredom: we are constantly crawling in the web of hyperstimu
lation from social media, on-demand videos, infotainment. Try to embrac
e it.
Boredom is an emotion which signals that your current goals are not getting your motivational
jucies flowing
3.Social media can be a huge time sink.. and you get easily distracted
before you realize.
4. Drain the shallows: aggresively eliminate the nonessential from our
working lives. The eliminatin should be merciless.
TIPS:
1. give a big chunk of time in the morning to a dedicated work. (2-4hr)
2. start the day with spending a few minutes to reflect a bigger purpose, plan your day.
3. Be enthusiased about discussing issues in person.
4. Stop work at a set time every day to give time to relax and rejuvinate yourself.
5. Avoid connecting to the internet at the end of the day.
6. Go completely offline for 1 day/ week.
7. Ideal day : 45 min of exercise and 15-20 min of meditation.
8. select a day of the week to reprioritize the tasks.
9. Track everything and that day in the week... monitor all the activities.
So... let's make something on google calendar and task list.
But where to write proper notes.. like a diary? .. i can use some
online diary!... or ... we can use google docs as a diary. :)
